Most Popular FAQ

Here are the answers to some of the frequently asked questions.

Will getting qualified in TKT get me a job in ELT?

TKT is an introductory ELT qualification that equips you to enter the ELT field. As teaching position requirements vary greatly, you may need additional qualifications like a diploma or degree.

How much does it cost?

TKT is cost-effective since self-study is an option, requiring payment only for the exam. The exam fee varies by country and center. For the latest exam fee information, contact the exam center of your choice in your country. View details of all approved exam centers in your region with their contact information here:

How can I start TKT and take the tests?

You have the option to either self-study or enroll in a TKT preparation course at a language institute in your country. If you choose to take a preparation course at a language institute, they will typically handle the exam registration for you. If you decide to study independently, you will need to register for the tests at a Cambridge-approved exam center. Since TKT is quite flexible, you can begin with one module and progress at your own pace.

Will I receive a certificate?

You will receive a certificate, issued by Cambridge, for each module you complete. The band you achieve will be mentioned on your certificate. There is no ‘Pass’ or ‘Fail’ in TKT. However, any band lower than Band 3 carries very limited recognition.
